And just like that…

So I’d had a pretty decent day, lots of sun, podcasts, phone calls, made an appointment about my taxes. I stripped the bed because I bought a new duvet and wanted to get the bed all set before I get in it tonight.

So I’m sitting in the chair in my bedroom overlooking the green belt and the townhomes across the grass and I see the old couple who live across from me come out to their patio. I’m not really watching them, but they are directly in front of me so I see them. The sun is on its way to setting, they’ve put up their patio umbrella to shade them, and they’re sitting at their table together and they can see the water in the distance..

Randy and I never sat on our patio - it’s pretty small, we don’t have a water view. There are chairs and a table out there but we sat there about twice - just because if you have a patio you should sit on it.

The couple across the way is older than us, they seem to be retired, and they disappear for periods of time so maybe they’re like snowbirds with a second home somewhere. Or maybe they have grandchildren to visit. When I pull my blinds down at night I can see into their living room where they appear to watch a lot of television.

I’ve never spoken to them, wouldn’t recognize them on the street, but they came out to sit together and just like that - I’m too sad to stay in my chair.
