Today it’s your birthday
This is the bracelet Randy bought me for our last anniversary and my 65th birthday. It has our initials on it: R+C, just as children write them when they have a crush. The paperwork that came with it said you should never wear your jewelry to bed because you might damage it - I never take it off. It’s funny - Randy gave me many gifts over the years, including the opal and ruby ring I wear on the other hand, but this is the one I cherish.
This year, all the daughters took me out to a restaurant down the street. It opened during the end of the pandemic, and it has an open patio so Randy and I had hoped to go there when the weather got better - he would never eat inside a restaurant because his immune system put him at such risk for covid.
It was good company, good food, I drank too much (of course) and then I went home, put on a tee shirt, got into bed, and cried.
